This summer, you may need multiple outfits in a single day. That’s because you have to account for a range of situations—from breathable clothing to cope with outdoor heat, to lightweight pieces that block strong sunlight, layers to throw on in heavily air-conditioned indoor spaces, and practical items for sudden rain. Consumer interest is rising in summer fashion that can be used across different scenarios, from highly breathable going-out looks to light outerwear and practical pieces for unexpected downpours.

While the specific conditions people face may differ, consumers in Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines are encountering similar day-to-day weather shifts. Practical styling that can flexibly respond to heat waves and high humidity, localized showers, and extreme temperature gaps between indoors and outdoors caused by strong air conditioning is increasingly in demand.

#A summer weather environment with greater volatility
Korea’s early-summer weather underscores a growing need for practical summer fashion that can respond to a variety of climate conditions.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the nationwide average temperature in June 2026 was 22.2°C, 0.8°C higher than the seasonal norm. In July, weather fluctuations became more pronounced and humidity also increased. In Seoul, after 26.1 mm of rain fell on July 8 and 38.1 mm on July 9, the high on July 12 climbed to 35.0°C, ushering in a stretch of sharply hotter weather.

Korea is a temperate-climate country with four distinct seasons, but in midsummer, recurring cycles of heat waves, high humidity, localized rainfall, and heavily air-conditioned indoor environments mean people need outfits that can handle multiple temperature conditions within a single day. As a result, there is a growing need for practical looks that can flexibly respond to heat and humidity, sudden rain, and strongly air-conditioned indoor spaces—even with just one outfit.

Similar patterns are also seen in some Asian countries. In Singapore, daily highs in late June generally reached 32–34°C, and in some areas, as much as 88.0 mm of rainfall was recorded in a single day. In Malaysia, localized thunderstorms continued alongside oppressive heat under the influence of the southwest monsoon, while the Philippines entered the rainy season, with high humidity and frequent thunderstorm advisories persisting.

While climate characteristics vary by country, demand is similarly rising across multiple Asian markets for clothing that can flexibly adapt to shifting weather—heat waves and humidity, sudden downpours, and indoor-outdoor temperature gaps.

#From beachwear to cardigans to fall looks…rising demand for diverse summer fashion
Based on SHEIN’s analysis of trends from June 17 to July 8 in Korea and Singapore, and from June 29 to July 13 in Malaysia and the Philippines, interest emerged in styles that can be used across a variety of situations.

▲In Korea, searches for “long sleeves” rose 24.0% during the period, while “summer dress” increased 23.1%. ▲In Singapore, searches for “swimsuit” rose 46.1% and “long skirt” increased 36.6%. At the same time, searches for “women’s cardigan” and “women’s winter clothing” also grew by 20.6% and 20.9%, respectively. ▲In Malaysia, searches for “beach look” increased 36.1%, and “women’s fall clothing” rose 22.2%. Searches for “Elegant Dress” surged 115.3%. ▲A similar pattern appeared in the Philippines. Searches for “beach look” rose 28.6%, while “pajamas” increased 42.6%, “Elegant Dress” jumped 122.7%, and “dress for special occasions” grew 25.0%.

These search trends do not necessarily point to a single consumer motivation. Travel plans, indoor air conditioning, how search terms are categorized on the platform, and shopping tied to specific events or situations may all have played a role. Still, they suggest a broader shift: consumers are looking beyond a fixed seasonal wardrobe and seeking items suited to a wide range of everyday situations.

A SHEIN representative said, “Consumers are tending to dress for changing environments rather than a single fixed temperature,” adding, “Items that lightly cover the body, breathable materials, and versatile pieces that are easy to add or remove as needed help people move between outdoor heat, sudden rain, and heavily air-conditioned indoor spaces.”

#Similar weather environments, different style expressions
While the impulse to respond flexibly to changing weather was the same, the way it was expressed differed by country. In Korea, styles that combine practicality with a digital sensibility are drawing attention. Key July trends included Cool-Sense T-shirts, cargo skirts, curved denim, and sheer layered camisoles. With Y3K Digital Futurism and Hybrid Gorpcore trends added to the mix, a styling tendency emerged that pairs cooling functions and practicality with metallic colors, cargo details, and sheer materials.

In Singapore, styles that suit the tropical climate while balancing practicality and individuality are gaining popularity. While long white dresses, tiered maxi skirts, and sheer tops form the base, more consumers are adding accents using Lime Chartreuse and Solar Peach colors, as well as cord necklaces and bag charms. In particular, searches for “wallet” increased 116.7%, indicating that accessories are becoming a key element of summer styling.

In Malaysia, a practical style combining neat silhouettes with high versatility stood out. Linen abayas, structured blazers, polka-dot midi skirts, and moon bags drew attention as items that satisfy both breathability and a polished look. Searches for makeup pouches also rose 24.0%, suggesting interest is expanding beyond fashion into beauty accessories.

In the Philippines, demand emerged simultaneously for sporty styles suited to the rainy season and fashion for special occasions. Lightweight windbreakers, Mary Jane sneakers, and abaca sun hats gained popularity as practical items that can handle a range of weather conditions. At the same time, Metallic Silver and Cherry Red colors drew attention, and searches for elegant dresses and dresses for special occasions rose sharply—suggesting steady demand for styles that express individuality as well.

#Beyond fashion into lifestyle…an expansion of consumer trends
Recent fashion trends are spreading beyond apparel into shoes, bags, accessories, and lifestyle categories. Search data showed strong interest in a wide range of items including wallets, slippers, cord necklaces, bag charms, makeup pouches, watches, and hats. This indicates that consumers are not just focused on completing an outfit; they are choosing products with an eye toward their overall lifestyle across different everyday contexts—commuting and work, travel, leisure, social activities, and time spent at home.

SHEIN explained that this trend reflects its role as a global fashion and lifestyle retailer responding to diverse consumer needs. The common thread across the four markets was adaptation to changing environments. Consumers are looking for breathable materials, lightweight cover-ups, and items that can be layered flexibly, but each market expresses this through different colors, silhouettes, and cultural elements. The emerging summer wardrobe is less a uniform regional style than a flexible system—sharing function while reflecting each market’s distinct characteristics in its expression.
